Woolrich Woolen Mills///SS 2011

image

This simple, chic, and classic collection is the latest - and last - of Daiku Suzuki for Woolrich Woolen Mills. Though not particularly daring, the attention to detail, color, and proportion are what make this collection shine. There’s not too much left to say as this is the perfect punctuation for Suzuki’s body of work with WWM. More looks after the jump.

Burberry Prorsum///Spring 2011

image

Continuing in Burberry Prorsum’s track record of perfectly tailored classic pieces, creative director Christopher Bailey adds a youthful and current touch to the line without overdoing it. The biker-inspired pieces (which are admittedly everywhere) are effective here: the tailoring and materials make for a chic, yet edgy collection. Check more looks after the jump!

Foals///Spanish Sahara (Deadboy Remix)

image

This remix is all about restraint - soft keys, delicate percussion, and eventually a rubbery bassline pulls it all together. It perfectly complements lead singer Jack Bevan’s sad lilt. In fact, he is kind of hiding under the track, which works here. Everything about this remix is lush, though. Deadboy merges the somber minimalism of the opening into banging rave chords, which somehow add to the melancholy mood of the track. Anyway, zone out to this. It’s 9 minutes long. Download HERE.

Erol Sabadosh///Kids In Paris June 2010 Mix

Erol Sabadosh Kids In Paris June 2010 Mix by erolsabadosh

image

Here’s another sexy electro mix from London DJ/producer/musician/socialite Erol Sabadosh. This mix has everything you could possibly want to dance to in June 2010 on it. No surprise that this guy is doing it super super big right now. Anyway, if you happen to be in London (or sometimes Paris… and now IBIZA!) be sure to party to one of Erol’s sets. Also, check out the other mix Erol sent us. Tracklist after the jump!

Bernhard Willhelm x Mykita///Franz 24k

image

This is a bit much, no? Some how, somewhere out there, someone can afford aviators DIPPED IN 24 KARAT GOLD. Meanwhile on the realistic side of things, I’m heating up bowl #6,000,000 of oriental ramen. I’m definitely not hating, though. I fully encourage those who can to ball out of control on gold encrusted sunglasses. Just don’t wear them around me… or any college student with bills to pay, for that matter.

Los Rakas///Soy Raka

image

One of my favorite things about music is that every once in a while, someone will come out of NOWHERE with an anthemic song that just shuts shit down. This song is something like that with the turfing movement out West. That being said, I like this a lot more than a lot of the hyphy stuff that was coming out a few years back (I’m not ghost riding ANYTHING). Anyway, this is live as hell. Download the track HERE.

Big Boi///General Patton

image

Well, damn. This is regal as fuck. It’s as if Big Boi is claiming his spot amongst hip hop royalty whether you like it or not. I like it. This could be in a mafia movie or something. It kinda reminds me of the days when rap used to scare white people, and Southern rap was super local and weird. Wish Andre were on this, but this definitely got me excited for Big Boi’s forthcoming solo project, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty (it’s FINALLY coming out). Download the track HERE.

Casely-Hayford Fall 2010

image

The latest from father-son duo, Casely-Hayford, is an impressive intermingling of fabrics, textures, and influences. Continuing the afropunk influences heavily featured in their Spring/Summer collection, they mix it up with a military slant. I love that the bright prints are subtle enough to blend with the stark cuts and neutral colors of the more prominent pieces. The two designers believe that people’s sartorial choices reflect various socio-political happenings of the day, and as shitty as things are right now, I’m not opposed to throwing on some anarcho-military boots and leather jackets. More dark looks after the jump.

JFK & St. Mandrew///Face Pump (Blende Remix)

Face Pump (Blende Remix) by amonroe

image

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing MSTRKRFT live 3 times, and after each set I either ended up with scuffed boots, sweat-stained vintage Dior, soggy cigarette packs, or some combination therein. Not mad at them. So you can imagine how hype I was upon hearing about JFK doing a solo stint (which you can get a taste of on the Teenage Riot tour). Anyway, the good folks at Undocumented Management were nice enough to send over this new track for streaming. It has the suave appeal of “Fist of God” with the dirty and frantic goodness of “The Looks.” With that being said, I fully intend on awkwardly sweating my way through the next tour date (for me it’s June 11 in Charlotte. #hometownhomie). Get more info about the Teenage Riot tour and JFK’s new shit with Undocumented Management down below.

Erik Schedin makes everything

image

Erik Schedin has a really cool minmal military surplus inspired collection of gadgets and accessories up on his website. I love that the products aren’t heavily branded, and the simplicity of them gives the collection a classic and elegant feel. More a lifestyle brand than a fashion house (he redesigned the packaging for Pledge furniture polish), Erik Schedin’s pieces could be used for everyday utility, or to pull a casual look together. Check out more after the jump.
